Bronze Sculpture
Before I pick up any carving tool to create your bronze sculpture, I immerse myself in the natural world of
the animal I’m about to sculpt. I watch for days and sometimes weeks to fully experience it's life as if I was
“in the animal’s shoes.”
I see the wind blowing his hair, the look on his face, the way he moves ... so I can capture the feeling – that essence – in every carve. When you set this bronze sculpture in your home or office, you'll see the "spirit" of
the animal in a way that brings about wonder, awe, and respect for the animal as if you were standing right
in front of it.
Presenting "King of the Prairie"
This stunning bronze sculpture captures the buffalo’s looking out over a cliff in the wind. A regal majesty and dominance is captured in his strong stance and lion-like mane. Like the lion, the buffalo demands and deserves respect.
"The buffalo has been central to the way of life for many cultures. He demands a lot more respect than most artists give. If you really watch him, he is the 'King of the Prairie.' He bravely leads, fiercely defends, and
provides what his herd needs to be strong and persevere."--John Bruguier, artist.
Basically, my sculpting process is to:
- Create a spatial plan
- Sketch a very detailed rendering of final look and feel
- Construct an aluminum base
- Sculpt using Van Aken oil-based modeling clay
Once I've perfected your sculpture in clay, I hand-carry it over to Valley Bronze of Oregon – one of the most prestigious bronzing companies in the United States. Here your sculpture is bronzed by the same company that bronzed the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC and the case holding the Declaration of Independence! Only the best will do.
